Events tackle rubbish at Quinns, Yanchep beaches

COASTAL pollution was the focus of a recent workshop in Mindarie involving about 25 residents and stakeholders.

“Local beaches may appear clean, but you can usually find plastic debris and other rubbish if you take a closer look,” Quinns Rocks Environmental Group spokesman David Wake said.

The group hosted the March 27 workshop with support from the City of Wanneroo.

“The ‘marine debris’ detracts from our use of the beach and can affect wildlife so let’s do something about it,” Mr Wake said.

National conservation group Tangaroa Blue facilitated the workshop, helping participants to consider what was found locally and potential actions.
